How to get around Geneva

Free Public Transport

Public transport can be used for free if you book a hotel in Geneva. You will get a Geneva Transport Card while checking in. Note that it is only valid for traveling within the city. The train to the airport is included too. Many of the rail passes also include free public transport in Geneva and in a much wider area as well.

Rail station Geneva Cornavin

The name of the main rail station is simply ‘Genève’. Locally it is also known as the ‘Gare de Cornavin’. This is where trains to many Swiss destinations depart, as well as trains to France and Italy.
From the station, the old town center can be reached on foot in 15 minutes, as well as most attractions such as the lakeside promenade and many museums. But there’s a dense network of trams, buses, and trolley buses as well.

Geneva by bike

Genèveroule – you can loan a bike for free (for 1 day) or you can rent a bike for several days.
For a free loan (every day from 9 am to 7 pm, Monday closed), go to one of these three places: “Plaine de Plainpalais, next to the skate park“ (close to the conference venue), “Quai Général-Guisan 14” or “Quai du Mont-Blanc next to the Bains des Pâquis”. For a several-day rental, check the website and make an online reservation.
